Electrical Design Engineer (Junior) | Full Time

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development of electrical designs of oil type transformers utilizing electrical design principles, appropriate industry standards and company design practices. The successful candidate will be able to produce technically accurate designs within schedule and budget requirements. Relevant experience in energy systems or heavy industrial equipment is preferred, experience in transformer manufacturing or substation design is highly desired.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Job duties include, but, are not limited to the following:

Design electrical parts of the transformer for every job assigned;
Create bill of materials required for advance purchase orders;
Prepares core and coil manufacturing drawings;
Coordinate with colleagues responsible of Mechanical Design, Procurement, manufacturing and Sales.
Responsible for preparing quote Designs per customer specifications;
Prepare internal design documentation to other design areas (Mechanical design, control) as well as test requirements.
Skilled to perform designs of complex transformers
Validate designs using simulation methods (FEM analysis)
Participate in Design review meetings with customer/consultants

Skills and Specifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
Position open to new college graduates, and those with 1-year of experience (Transformer Co-Op or Internship experience a plus)
Relevant experience in transformer or other power-related products
Preferred to have knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ANSI, IEEE, NEC, CSA and others.
Knowledge and experience with engineering modeling software.
Proficiency in use of MRP tools, experienced with Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Complete accountability for one’s own work, and oversight of the work of others.
Creative thinker. Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with attention to details.
Local or regional candidates preferred
Relocation and TN Visa sponsorship available if needed
