About the Role

The Staff Accountant ensures the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting on a monthly basis. This role directly collaborates with Operating Unit Controller/CFO and the Manager of Accounting as well as various corporate team members to ensure accounting processes are functioning efficiently and accurately, and to investigate questions from divisional teams concerning financial results. This role provides unique exposure to the development of an accounting function for a newly acquired operating unit of Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE:PWR). In addition to the standard month end close processes, this role encapsulates controls compliance, fixed asset management, and percent of complete revenue recognition. This role is in-office 5 days a week.

What You’ll Do

Using ERP system reports and other financial information, conduct procedures to aid with monthly close processes.
- Monthly preparation and review of the financial statements (this involves maintenance of a standardized reconciliation workbook, fixed asset system maintenance, journal entry involvement and controls compliance).
- Percent of complete revenue recognition review and analysis.
- Variance analysis.
- Monthly Reporting Schedules.
Prepares journal entries and corresponding support as needed during monthly close process.
Provides explanation of fluctuations.
Identifies risks, potential negative impact, communicates findings to company management, operating unit personnel or controllers, operations personnel and assists with preparation of reports and resolutions.
Works closely with other accounting groups and company departments to help to resolve any accounting issues that may arise.
Serves as a main point of contact for the Manager of Accounting.
Assist with AP/AR invoicing procedures and weekly payment run as available.
Provides support and assistance to the internal auditors on an as-needed basis.
Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 1–3 years of experience.
CPA/CMA is nice to have, but not necessary.

Skills

Advanced level of Excel and other MS Office applications.
Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) – preferred, but not required.
JDEdwards – preferred, but not required.
M1 – preferred, but not required.
OneStream – preferred, but not required.
Hubble – preferred, but not required.
Historical involvement with POC revenue recognition – preferred, but not required.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Compensation

Aiming between $70-75k, dependent upon the experience and capabilities of the candidate.
